THE TETRAHEDRON (OR TRIANGULAR PYRAMID)

A Platonic Solid, the tetrahedron is the most basic shape that encloses space. In other words, the fewest number of sides and shape can have that can create a real, closed shape, is a tetrahedron.

 

The vertices of the tetrahedron are formed by connecting the centers of 4 closest-packed spheres:

This 4D axis (or "tetra-axis") shows the minimum 4 planes (dimensions?) needed for real-world, solid objects.
